Description
The Seashell Connection is a hotline that brings together a recently diagnosed child and a child with at least one year of dealing with the same type of cancer. The understanding of another young person who shares the same experience can be one of the most comforting voices in an ill child's life and a welcome outlet for discussing the feelings and fears that may be difficult to discuss with parents and medical professionals.
Inspiration
The Seashell Connection was inspired by Carol Jean Eiserer, who, when she asked her oncologist if there was someone she could talk to who had been through one of the treatments she was about to go through, was told that no one had survived.
